Secrets and rumours rock a small coastal town in a new Dawn French drama

On the surface, the fictional town of Thurlbury looks like an idyllic place by the sea – complete with a historic castle, friendly pub and a school. But it’s not long before secrets, gossip and wicked rumours lead to devastating consequences in a new six-part ITV drama.

The Trouble with Maggie Cole stars comedy legend, Dawn French, in the lead role of Maggie, who works in the tourist shop at Thurlbury’s castle.

When she is asked by a radio journalist to give an interview about the upcoming 500th-anniversary celebrations in the town, she gets far too tipsy and starts divulging all sorts of unsubstantiated tittle-tattle about local residents – not realising that all of her indiscreet disclosures are being recorded.
