The Flying Historian
June 2018

In TV series and books, Dan Snow has explored conflict throughout the ages. Now the historian airs our past on the road
Musicians and comedians do it, so why not historians? That’s what Dan Snow thought when deciding to embark on his first theatre tour, An Evening With The History Guy.
Arriving at UK venues this summer, the historian, writer and broadcaster, well-known for his regular history slot on the Beeb’s The One Show, as well as military documentaries, will share with audiences memorable anecdotes from his varied career.
‘We thought why not? Let’s take history on the road and see who comes,’ explains the 39 year-old.
He’s used to experimenting, having set up an online channel, History Hit TV. It was a dream of the Oxford graduate to be able to make programmes about whatever he wanted, without having to wait for a commission. ‘That’s the beauty about the digital world. One of the main reasons for the tour was the channel – I wanted to get out on the road and spread the word about all things history.’
