Priddy Ugly and Bontle Moloi give us a glimpse into their lives as first-time parents and what they’ve been up to during lockdown

BEING cooped up in your house for days on end with your partner is enough to test the best relationship. Add to that the pressure of being a first-time parent and you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s a recipe for disaster.
Yet for one loved-up young couple, life in lockdown is a lovefest.
For the past few weeks, Bontle Moloi (29) and Priddy Ugly (28) have been holed up in their love nest with their six-month-old daughter, Afrika.
“I’m getting to know my husband in this design we have created as our home,” Bontle tells DRUM. “And I’m getting to know Bontle as a mother because I have never done this before.”
The TV personality and her rapper husband, whose real name is Ricardo Moloi, welcomed baby Afrika Bonita Lerato in November last year.
They were delighted about her arrival, Priddy says, and gave much thought to her name.
“We are huge patriots of Africa. We believe it is beautiful and that’s what she represents. We loved how it sounds, we loved that it represented where we are from, our heritage and our future,” he says.
“Her second name is Bonita, which means beautiful in Portuguese. I am Angolan born, so that was honouring my Angolan side.
“Her third name is Lerato, which means love because she represented our love. She is the manifestation of the 10 years of our love, hence those three names,” he continues.
“She makes perfect sense.”
The couple have kept their baby pretty much to themselves since she was born.
“We felt we should be selfish with our time because not everyone needs to see her.”
