A Story To Be Told

She recently lost every thing. Her husband was killed in a botched hi jacking, she just found out they’re broke, and she’s got a mountain of debt she didn’t know about.

To top it all off, she’s had to move back to the township after their house in the lofty suburbs was repossessed.

It’s been a rollercoaster of a time for Gomora’s Thathi, and it’s about to get worse before it gets better.

Actress Katlego Danke (41) tells us she’s loving every minute of playing the role.

She’s come a long way from her popular Generations character Dineo Mashaba, the trophy wife of Kenneth Mashaba (Seputla Sebogodi).

Even though fans still call her Dineo, they’re slowly getting used to her as Thathi. This is evident by Twitter’s trends list, which the show tops almost every night.

“Thathi is so different from the other characters I’ve played. It was challenging to jump into her shoes but a bit of research about where she’s from and who she is made it all easier,” Katlego says.

“I had to prepare to set her off on the right note so that she can grow and develop from there. A season in a telenovela is a long time and you’ve got to give yourself somewhere to go in terms of character development.

“As the show progresses, people can expect to see her go through turmoil and uncover secrets about many things she had previously taken for granted in her life. They can expect to walk with her down her journey of grief as she mourns her husband. They can expect to see her come to grips with reality and face it head on,” Katlego adds.

The actress believes there are similarities between her and Thathi.
