Now a trove of letters from Jackie to her husband, John F. Kennedy, and son have surfaced, revealing the famously private first lady’s innermost thoughts and feelings, including her anguish and grief during her tumultuous years with the slain president.

Written in her careful, elegant script, Jackie chronicled her joys and sorrows — and none hurt more deeply than her husband’s alleged affairs. A compulsive womanizer, Kennedy was said to have cheated on her with scores of women. In one letter, “she wrote Jack from Europe — where she was traveling with her sister, Lee — saying she knew all about his affair with Marilyn Monroe,” discloses a family insider, who has seen the long-hidden missives. “She told Jack it was breaking her heart and pleaded with him to end it, saying that it was bound to come out and humiliate him and his family.” Jackie was also bracingly blunt. “She even mentioned her fears that Jack would contract a sexually transmitted disease, pointing out that Marilyn had doubtless slept with many, many other men!”
