FOSTERING TALENT FOR THE TRADE

The Indian Institute of Gem and Jewellery (IIGJ), an educational institute promoted by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), has launched the first of the series of Design Utsav and Gem & Jewellery Industry-Academia Conclave (GJIAC) 2020 in IIGJ Varanasi.

To be conducted in all six centers across India, the Design Utsav recognizes the growing design needs of the Gem and jewellery industry and offers a platform for design talent to showcase their work to the industry. On the other hand, the Gem & Jewellery Industry-Academia Conclave (GJIAC) 2020 aims to create a dialogue between the industry and academia to develop new insights into the most relevant issues connected to talent needs and gaps in the industry and emerging opportunities for new job aspirants.

Creating new design thinking

New-age consumers are inclined toward designs and the stories behind them. Such stories not only allow them to identify with the designs but also experience the product more closely. Not only that, new breed of buyers essentially look at making more meaningful purchases. Stories about a design that is inspired by the heritage and culture of their land and promotes old and rare form of craftsmanship, excite these modern-day buyers.

Looking at this new buyer psychology, the debut event plans to celebrate the glorious monuments, replete with religious and cultural inspirations that are also the pride of Uttar Pradesh (UP).
