NMDC Q2 PAT up 10% y-o-y to ₹844 crore

Iron ore mining major NMDC reported a 10 percent increase in profit after tax (PAT) to ₹844 crore for the second quarter of 2017-18, up from ₹771 crore in the corresponding period last year, driven by improvement in sale realisation and volumes, the company said in a BSE filing.
The company’s turnover increased by 39 percent to ₹2,421 crore for the quarter under review as compared to ₹1,739 crore for Q2 of 2016-17. Profit before tax (PBT) during Q2 of FY 2017-18 was at ₹1,241 crore, an increase of 19 percent over ₹1,044 crore in Q2 of FY 2016-17.
NMDC reported an iron ore production of 7.18 million tons (mt) in second quarter of 2017-18, an increase by 14 percent against a production of 6.31 mt in second quarter of 2016-17. The company’s iron ore sale increased 4 percent to 8.30 mt for the quarter under review against 8.01 mt for Q2 of 2016-17.
