Business leaders are cautiously optimistic about Oman’s economic prospects in 2018. An OER report

Confident Strides

If modern day business is akin to the art of war, then modern day CEOs are samurais betraying the courage to tread where mere mortals are scared to step. OER’s cover story features a cross section of such CEOs who share their views on Oman’s economy, business prospects, opportunities and challenges, despite the inherent risks of crystal gazing. Overall, the mood of the captains of industry can be summed up as ‘cautious optimism.’

The telltale signs of greenshoots are already there. Oil prices are trading above $65 per barrel and it is expected to stay at those levels or rise in 2018. With Oman’s budget expected to peg oil prices around the $50 per barrel mark, the Sultanate should have enough surplus to fund its development expenditure.
