THE URGENT NEED TO CUT CARBON emissions is prompting a rapid move toward electrified mobility. If this trend shows a constant upward swing as expected, the need for better methods to store electrical energy will intensify. The electrification of personal mobility is picking up speed—in many countries, and government mandates will accelerate change. Even without new policies or regulations, passenger vehicle sales in 2035 will be electric, according to the Bloomberg NEF Consultancy in London.
Anand Kabra Vice-Chairman & MD, Kabra Extrusiontechnik Ltd says, “The world is moving towards clean energy and electric vehicles (EVs) are a key driver in that direction. EV sales almost doubled in 2021 from the previous year to a record 6.6 million. It has risen further in 2022—2 million sold in Q1, up 75% over the same period in 2021. EV manufacturers worldwide are spending on innovations and R&D efforts in a huge way. A report reveals that the top 20 car manufacturers have invested more than US$467bn in R&D in the past five years as they compete to develop EVs and meet carbon emission targets.”
