How the new tech-start ups are changing the course of traditional business model in India
If there is one thing that has remained a constant throughout India’s ever-changing socio-political landscape, it is its entrepreneurial spirit. Right since the ancient days, from the period of Indus Valley Civilisation, Indian traders used to sail to the coasts of West Asia to export goods from India. Over the centuries, trade flourished and India monopolised the global trade for more than 2000 years, a feat that no other civilisation has achieved. But, 200 years of colonisation continues to challenge both our spirit and skills.
Post-Independence Business
Post British-era, the new-found freedom did wonders to our confidence and imbibed a ‘can-do-attitude’ in every Indian. It rekindled our entrepreneurial spirit and enabled visionary and enterprising minds like the tatas and the Birlas to build an industrial empire through hard work and innovation. But unfavorable laws, political apathy and lack of inspired initiatives in research ensured that there wasn’t any substantial progress until the last decade of the 20th century. things started to turn around in 1991, when liberalisation and privatisation eased up policies and opened our markets to the world to create new avenues.
