The US frontline equity indices Nasdaq, S&P 500, and Dow Jones index were up by 3 percent, 1.57 percent, and 0.33 percent, respectively. Oil prices were volatile as US President Joe Biden announced the release of one million barrels of oil per day for the next 6 months from its strategic reserves in an effort to reduce the oil prices. The United States also announced a new set of sanctions against several Russian entities. The 2-year and 10-year US Treasury yields inverted for the first time since 2019 sending a possible warning signal that a recession could be on the horizon. The bond market phenomenon means the rate of the 2-year note is now higher than the 10-year note yield.
