Many of us have lost our jobs – blame it on the pandemic – but quite a few have clawed back in these difficult times. The hardest-hit aviation community has some fine examples.

Pilots with years of flying experience have started doing jobs that they – or even we -- would never have thought of doing earlier. Take the case of the pilots from Emirates in Dubai. Furloughed during the pandemic, these pilots – four of them – branched out to become butchers in their free time. And to keep reminding themselves and the customers they serve that they were pilots, these four wear their four stripes on their shoulders.
