Most Fascinating Market For The Internet
June 24, 2017
|Businessworld
Venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers partner Mary Meeker included a special focus on India’s fast changing tech sector in their annual Internet trends report
KLEINER Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) partner Mary Meeker’s annual Internet trends report has seldom failed to provide the advertising and marketing professionals globally food for thought. The report tracks global trends, and India has increasingly formed an important part of it. Last year, Meeker singled out India for the continued growth in its Internet user base. This year, the report has further sharpened its lens on India, and Meeker has gone on record to call India “one of the most fascinating markets for the Internet on the planet”.
At the base of this argument is the fact that currently, India is the fastest growing market of its size. With a growth rate of nearly 7 per cent, India’s gross domestic product was estimated to be at $2,256 billion in 2016, as per the International Monetary Fund. Not only that, its consumer trends are fast pushing the country into becoming one of the most promising digital economies.
