The Couturier & Her Bride
September 2018
|Brides Today
Bringing autumnal tones, heritage jewellery, and a hint of nostalgia, Kishandas & Co. and Jayanti Reddy join hands to create a magical collection fit for a royal trousseau.
An amalgamation of heirloom jewellery and muted silhouettes, the association between Hyderabad-based jewellery brand Kishandas & Co. and couturier Jayanti Reddy is every bride’s dream come true. The brands join forces to paint a surreal picture of the Kishandas & Co.’s ethos. “The Kishandas family history is steeped in the heritage of Hyderabad. The story began four generations ago in 1870 with visionary Shri Harlochandas starting his journey with jewels. It was his innate creativity, craftsmanship, and sharp vision that brought the brand alive. His sense of design and his way with gems had him catch the fancy of Hyderabad’s royals and nobles, and the city’s discerning families,” explains Pratiksha Prashant, CEO of the brand. The brand’s mastery over tools, techniques, and processes has evolved with time, but what lends uniqueness to the brand is the unparalleled workmanship, the refined attention to detail, and unique sourcing of exquisite materials, which set each ornament apart. Also hailing from the city of Nizams, Jayanti Reddy’s label has had equally inspiring and humble beginnings. “Although a career in fashion didn’t seem likely, I was always drawn to creativity even as a child. My mother was so creative and always had a flair for fashion, and I think that rubbed off on me. That’s when I decided to enter the field of fashion,” reminisces the designer. With a strong emphasis on hand-woven Indian textiles, natural colours, and traditional weaves
