Supercars looks set to commit to a second championship round in Bathurst at the proposed Velocity Park facility adjacent to Mount Panorama.

Asprint round at Mount Panorama Circuit is considered sacrilegious to hardcore motorsport fans in Australia. But the development of the Velocity Park facility adjacent to Mount Panorama will allow Supercars to add a second round in Bathurst to the championship while protecting the status of the Bathurst 1000.
The 4.58km FIA/FIM-accredited Velocity Park facility would sit adjacent to the 6.2km Mount Panorama Circuit, nearest Sulman Park (see map).
Bathurst Regional Council has been pushing for a permanent facility to compliment Mount Panorama, given the restrictions on the usage of the public roads that make up the home of the Bathurst 1000 and with an eye on attracting major motorcycling events.
