It feels strange for a National Championship series to be done and dusted by the end of September. Usually the tension keeps us on our toes until close to the end of the year! The Supadrift finals went down at Carnival City on the last day of September, with the Championship still undecided.
We were not in contention, having missed a round and scoring poorly in a couple of others, and the Kimberley round at the beginning of the season was scrapped due to a decision to halt the event early. The General Tire team was still excited about the final round, though, as we had completed our major revamp of the rear suspension and we were keen to test the new independent set up in competition.
Testing went extremely well, with the big Mustang quicker through the switches and much more eager to slide and keep the tail out. With such a major modification, though, you can never be sure if gremlins will appear when you least expect (or want) them!
