How F1 and Motogp plan to deal with the advent of the “new normal” in 2020

How does one go racing in the midst of a pandemic? Turns out, there are no real answers to this question right now. Because this is the first time that we’ve ever had to confront this particular problem. Of course the world has seen epidemics of varying levels of severity, that have in the past led to the cancellation of motorsport events. Take for example the outbreak of foot and mouth disease in 2001 that resulted in that year’s Isle of Man Tourist Trophy races not happening. But, with all signs pointing to the fact that the reality of Covid-19 is something we’re going to have to try and live with indefinitely, and with various industries starting up again, motorsport is now about to follow suit. This is what we know so far.
