Vapi-based Croyance Automotive is ready with an electric mini-truck.
The SCV market in India was estimated to be 4.5 lakh units in FY201718. Made up a number of mini-trucks and passenger commercial vehicles with a GVW of not more than 1.5-tonnes, the SCV market in India is expected to grow at a good pace in the face of disruptions that would influence a significant change in their form and function. Adapting itself to the changing hub and spoke transportation model, the SCV market in India is witnessing the influx of new technologies and players at various levels. One such player is Croyance Automotive of Vapi, Gujarat. Set to enter the SCV market in mid-2019, the company has developed two electric SCVs called the Elecro 1.T and Elecro 2.T. Both are completely localised and capable of doing up to 120 km on a single charge, according to Kapila Soni, Founder and Director, Croyance Automotive. Both have been built to operate in the highly competitive and demanding Indian market situations. Equipped with user-friendly charging mechanism, the Electro 1.T SCV is a battery-powered vehicle with direct drive transmission. Ideal for e-commerce, cold storage services, and transportation of high-value loads, it has a payload capacity of 1000 kgs. Equipped with an alloy body VRLA battery with gelified electrolyte, the electric mini-truck is not likely to look very different from a conventional SCV when parked besides it.
