SIAM Pushes EV Future

At its 58th Annual Convention, SIAM highlights the need for a long term roadmap for the auto sector, as it heads towards global transition to EVs and future mobility, Pratik Rakshit reports

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the body representing India’s automobile sector, held its 58th Annual Convention titled “Building the Nation, Responsibly”. The speakers present at the convention consisted of Anant Geete, minister of heavy industries, Nitin Gadkari, minister of road transport, highways, Dr. Rajiv Kumar, vice chairman, NITI Aayog among others. This year, the focus was on the need for a long term policy for electric vehicles and future mobility. The speakers highlighted the need for a policy roadmap for its automobile sector and that moderating Goods and Service Tax is also of importance.
