Project: Pilibhit House, Haridwar, ARCHITECTS: DESIGNERS GROUP IN COLLABORATION WITH PRADEEP SACHDEVA DESIGN ASSOCIATES, Highlighting the four phases of life as per Hindu mythology, the Pilibhit House hotel in Haridwar is a perfect representation of the holy town in a contemporary design language

A SACRED AURA IN A ROYAL HOUSE

On the banks of the sacred river Ganga in the holy town of Haridwar in Uttarakhand stands a vintage property that was once owned by the descendants of the royal family of Pilibhit. A mesmerizing hospitality project by Designers Group, Pilibhit House seeks to enthrall everyone who comes to the town searching for liberation or moksha. The cultural and religious significance of Haridwar played a significant role in the design grammar of the Pilibhit House by IHCL SeleQtions. Being of royal heritage, it seemed regal even before it was interacted with. The original structure also possessed an enigmatic grandeur and had a touch of opulence to it.

The project is a kaleidoscope of cultural influences and civilizations, an idea demonstrated by the holy city of Haridwar, where people from all over the world come to attain moksha. The first thing that impressed the team was the beauty of the location, with a scenic view of the Ganga. Haridwar as a city is an amalgamation of the best of Hindu culture and heritage. The design was conceptualized highlighting the four phases of life or Purusharth, as per Hindu philosophy, Dharma (righteousness), Artha (prosperity), Kama (pleasure and love), and Moksha (liberation), translated into a contemporary setting. Multiple design influences were incorporated as a homage to Lord Shiva and the gateway for Chardham Yatra. The design of this hotel seamlessly puts forth Indian culture in a modern design tone, showcasing a traditional schematic approach and rich temple colour palette.

#BEATTHEFIRE - WHAT YOU SPECIFY CAN DECIDE WHO SURVIVES

In moments of fire, there is no second chance. The materials you choose today determine whether a building protects lives tomorrow - or puts them at risk. In an age where speed of construction and visual appeal often overshadow safety, one critical truth must remain nonnegotiable: fire safety begins at the specification stage.
