Rose Shanahan on being a “signpost” to help treat horses, Grand National clients and dealing with cynics

I first sat on a horse when I was three years old and that was it – I was hooked.
I spent many happy days in Kilotteran Equitation Centre in Waterford, hunted with the Waterford (spending most of my time in the bottom of drains) and came up through the Waterford Hunt branch of the Pony Club.
Subsequently, I followed my three daughters on their journeys in the horse-world. My eldest teaches in our livery yard, my middle daughter is a health and safety consultant and my youngest is an equine osteopath.
In the 1980s I worked for a doctor at Trinity College, who was healing people with hands-on healing.
Ten years later, I completed a diploma in radionics from the Keys College of Radionics in Oxford, with a view to treating horses.
Radionics works with electrical fields, using the analyser’s body as an instrument and a pendulum to amplify the signals received from the client (horse). Using a pendulum as a diagnostics tool is known as “dowsing” and has been used in mining and agriculture for thousands of years.
