Cash Crisis: Banks Ration Cash, ATMs Dispense Little, Customers Groan




The cash crisis in Nigeria has taken a toll on bank customers, who are struggling to access their money. Despite the presence of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), customers are finding it difficult to withdraw cash, as banks continue to ration cash and ATMs dispense little.

Experts have attributed the cash crisis to several factors, including the high cost of running ATMs, the acquisition and merging of major banks, and the shift to digital banking. However, the situation remains a challenge for customers, who are calling on banks to address the issue.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has initiated measures to promote a cashless economy, but the progress has been slow. The government needs to accelerate efforts to harness the benefits of a cashless society, enhance economic growth, and reduce financial risks.
