Industry looks forward to Union Budget 2017 with optimism

The next month will be of utmost important as the textile and apparel industry is
looking forward to both direct and indirect extension of already available schemes,
especially the introduction of GST, reduction of interest rates in parity with the
international money market, tax rationalisation measures and incentives for
investments in innovation and infrastructure. The year 2016 particularly saw
motivating initiatives being taken by the Government in regard to promotion of the
textile and apparel sector. The announcement of the Rs 6000 crore package was a
big relief for the industry, as it gave a morale boosting direction for the players.
