I recently read Robin Grille's article, "Parent Guilt: A Silent Epidemic." It struck a chord with me, highlighting the burden of guilt I've carried about raising my son, William. My guilt centres on the first three months of William's life, before fully trusting my instincts.
For instance, I felt guilty about:
Allowing him to self-settle to sleep from birth, before learning about co-sleeping. Using a co-sleeper next to my bed instead of having him in our bed. Struggling to let him comfort suck due to attachment issues, leading him to find his thumb for comfort. Despite my husband's reassurances, Grille's article differentiated between guilt and remorse, urging a shift in perspective. Opening up to William about my feelings during a breastfeeding session was cathartic.
Now, I feel lighter, though I wish I had explored natural parenting information before William's birth. This journey led to starting this magazine, aiming to equip others with the knowledge I lacked. Knowledge empowers; I hope this magazine empowers you too.
