The 2016 Ducati Multist rada 1200 Enduro is decidedly not a street bike dress ed in ADV clothing. Ducati has done their due diligence and set their sights on acquiring a piece of the adventure motorcycle market.

Battle Ready

R1200 GS was first sold in 2005 and enjoys a long reign as the Gold Standard for adventure bikes. The liquid-cooled version wa s introduced in 2013, and with its feather-light wet clutch and revised frame design it approaches super-bike status on the asphalt—its comfort, power, and wind protection rival many single-purpose road bikes.

The Survival Triangle

Ten years ago while working as a journalist in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh, I bought my first motorbike, an old Suzuki SX 150 dirt bike for commuting around town. In a short time I found myself taking off on weekend adventures along the coast and into the mountains. And while I no longer live in Asia, I go back there to ride two or three times a year. I’ve had a few close calls and have come off once or twice, but I’ve never broken a bone or written off a bike.
