The cover girl, Bidemi Zakariyau is the founder of LSF|PR.  She recently made the Forbes 30 Under 30 in Africa list. Also featured was Thelma Okonji, the founder of Thelma Cleans; Didi Warmate, founder of Lagos Match Makers and Khadijat Abdulkadir, founder of Digital African Woman.

This edition exposes certain realities in the society with regards to the acceptance of gender equality, in the topic, ‘True Women Liberation Cannot Coexist With Organized Religion’. It is refreshing to have content that can spark conversations and, cover topics rarely spoken about. This edition also saw Urban Woman Magazine delving into the lives of business women in Makoko, a community in Lagos, Nigeria, built on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, showing the world how these women build businesses and sustain their families even in a community built on water.

This edition gives insights into issues that women struggle with, while also answering the one question that has made seeking justice for sexual abuse for many, difficult. In this edition, we sought to answer the question, “Can one feel pleasure during an abuse?” There is a lot of controversy around this topic and one way to know the answer to this mind boggling question is by reading this edition. This edition also saw Urban Woman Magazine delving into the concept of Child Marriage to give an overview of what the average girl child from Northern Nigeria goes through. Also featured in this edition are, Nigerian Actress, Ufuoma McDermott; and, South African actress, Mohau Mokoatle-Cele.

The first issue is themed around the concept of “Feminism”, exposing opinions of different women on the subject. In this edition, articles like "What it means to be a Nigerian woman"; "African Feminism" show what the African woman goes through in her daily struggle against misogyny.

Urban Woman Magazine is a Nigerian magazine birthed in 2017, which aims at telling stories about the African Woman.
