Magazine Description

In this issue

The Covid-19 has not only taken more than 33,000 lives and infected nearly 8 lakh people across the world, the pandemic has also hit the world economy very hard. Economic giants like China and USA are among the worst victims. Naturally small and medium economies who depend on the economic superpowers have also become victims due to the worldwide shutdown of transportation and shipments. In an import-dependent country like Bangladesh the crisis is inevitable and perhaps more severe. Apart from trade and economic activities, major development projects in the country have already been affected. Projects slowed down. Smooth implementation of almost all the major projects depends on foreign experts and technicians. Besides, the projects need import of machinery and equipment from abroad which is now very difficult. All the projects are now running behind schedule. Like other sectors, Bangladesh’s power and energy sector is also in danger and the future lies on which direction the situation would end up. Concerns and panic are there like everywhere. It is expected that the crisis would end soon.
