United romp it to move seven clear
ROUT OF SIGHT

DUNDEE UNITED took a huge step towards the Championship title and an instant return to the Premiership with this big win at Morton.

Jim Goodwin's side moved seven points clear of Raith Rovers at the top following their triumph at Cappielow.

And with just three games remaining the Tangerines are firmly in the driving seat and have found form at the perfect time in the run as they followed up wins over Raith and Queen's Park to pick up another three points.

Captain Ross Docherty and Glenn Middleton scored in the first half, with Louis Moult and Tony Watt netting after the interval and Robbie Muirhead getting a consolation for Ton.

United boss Jim Goodwin said: "We had to dig in and win the fights and scraps all over the pitch.

"We did that from the first minute to the last and scored some good goals and managed the game brilliantly. We set the tone from the start, pressing and being aggressive.

"The fitness levels of the group are outstanding. We never allowed Morton to get any rhythm and we forced them into making mistakes.

"We're in the driver's seat and can only keep winning the games in front of us.
