Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha got married this October. More than the glamorous pictures, the gorgeous bride and groom, and the picturesque location, what made the wedding special was that it was an eco-friendly affair. Apart from using natural elements like flowers, jute, and recycled or repurposed wood, the couple also focused on managing the waste mindfully. To reduce the food waste, the duo hired experts to curate food experiences that are more sustainable.
Given the growing climate concerns, sustainable weddings are the need of the hour. "Indian weddings see a lot of wastage - from papers and plastics to flowers and excess food - and it is a serious environmental concern. Better planning can help make weddings more eco-friendly. Sustainably means that you use what you have and don't create more. Not just weddings, Sustainability is required everywhere - be it in some social event or regular day-to-day life," says Zashank Bhatia, director at Tailormade Experiences. His team, partnered with Purple Tree Events, Devika Narain and Company, Paul Francis, and Miray Events to ensure an eco-friendly wedding for Fazal and Chadha.
