Since its introduction in 2021, The Macallan Harmony collection has continued to fuse innovative techniques with materials from the natural world as an ode to its deep-rooted connection to nature. Following its first collaboration with hotel and chocolate factory Casa Cacao and a second release inspired by the world of coffee, the brand has partnered up with Stella and Mary McCartney on a collection that celebrates the lush, fertile lands of Scotland. This marks the first time the sister duo — who’s a fashion designer and photographer respectively — has teamed up for a project.
Below, we spoke to Macallan’s Whisky Maker, Steven Bremner, to get more insight into the collaboration and the world of the Harmony collection.
L’OFFICIEL: How did The Macallan’s collaboration with Stella and Mary McCartney come about?
STEVEN BREMNER: Mary McCartney was invited to the Macallan estate by Jaume Ferràs, our global creative director, to shoot a portrait of Sir Peter for The Macallan Anecdotes of Ages Collection. During that visit, a wider collaboration was discussed that would be joint with Stella and Mary McCartney around a project to design a range of bar accessories.
The McCartney sisters’ love of Scotland goes back decades. Our partnership marks a first for Stella and Mary, coming together in a creative union. This debut joint venture is not only a chance for them to combine their creative talents but also collaborate on a project which allows them to reminisce and celebrate their memories of Scotland.
