LET'S GET REAL (ESTATE): LUXURIOUS LONDON

This isn’t a novel by Charles Dickens, but it does have London at its heart. Well, at least half of its heart. For many property investors in Singapore, places such as the UK and Australia are at the top of mind when they think about where to buy a new home overseas.

The UK’s capital, London, is typically seen as a safe haven for such investors. However, being such a large city has also meant there are many areas that have created markets within markets, which offer homes at different prices with different returns on investment.

And while we’re all familiar with many of London’s key neighbourhoods—think Notting Hill and Mayfair—when you’re looking to invest, there are a myriad of other areas you can look into, offering excellent opportunities and a lifestyle to match. Here’s where to begin.

LONDON CALLING London is often touted as one of the world’s capitals. A melting pot of different people and cultures, it’s long been one of the top destinations for business, education and travel. It also happens to bea highly sought-after city to invest in real estate. Post-pandemic, people are continuing to return to the bustling city, and the property market reflects it, with home prices in many areas above their prepandemic levels.

Here are two areas you should be looking at with stunning residences to match.

TRENDY BERMONDSEY One of the most exciting areas in London is Bermondsey. Situated south of the River Thames, Bermondsey is going through a significant regeneration. There are plans for the wider area that include several thousands of new homes, as well as 13 new public spaces and a thriving business district. Residents here will also have numerous cafes and restaurants right on their doorstep, alongside plenty of shops, a creative and digital hub, and a state-of-the-art sports complex and arena.
