Luxury means different things to different people. For retail czarina Gayatri Ruia, Business Development Director - Palladium, Mumbai, whose name is synonymous with exclusive art and niche urban spaces, anything well-crafted and executed impeccably is luxury. “To bite into a perfect macaron is as luxurious as buying an exquisite pair of handmade Italian shoes. It is not the price or the brand, but the passion, expertise, time and quality of raw materials that define the creation,” she says. “Unfortunately, the most desirable objects come with a price tag!” she quips with a smile.

Her lavish residential projects in Bangalore —One Bangalore West and Kessaku—bear testament to that. Tapping into the traditional vibe of the quaint Rajaji Nagar neighbourhood, the exquisitely designed apartments, with their extravagant design and contemporary detailing, stretch out into the open skyline like a lazy kitten lounging in the winter sun.
