Thomas Williams was curious when his new rescue cat began sniffing and pawing his leg. But he was shocked when it turned out that his kitty was actually alerting him to a life-threatening condition
After adopting a dog from the Cape Ann Animal Shelter in Gloucester, Massachusetts, in February of 2022, Thomas Williams’ friends excitedly told him about a sweet orange-and-white tabby cat they had seen there. They knew 70-year-old Thomas, who is divorced and uses a wheelchair due to a leg amputation, had been searching online for a furry friend to keep him company.
Soon after, Thomas welcomed “Garfield” into his Foxboro home. Though sweet, Garfield was skittish and often hid. At just 1 year old, the poor guy had been in three different shelters and workers suspected he’d been abused.
