IT IS a small miracle that you can buy a TV as good as the 77-inch Samsung S90C Quantum Dot OLED for $2500.
Worth the Splurge?
AS A RULE I'm not particularly susceptible to the \"audio-jewelry\" school of component design; I'm a value/performance guy.
Sonic Surprise
OVER THE YEARS I've reviewed hundreds of audio and video products covering all the usual bases. But not up to now a soundbar.

The Yamaha CR-2020: A True '70s Blockbuster
There's something magical about the majestic stereo receivers of yesteryear. Apart from being magnificent examples of industrial design, they're dead simple to operate while offering a full complement of features to ensure a great, though decidedly old-school, music listening experience, complete with analog power meters. And then there's nostalgia... I still own (and recently refurbished) my first receiver - an Onkyo TX-2500 I bought for $200 in the mid-70s. It looks and sounds as good as it did back in the day.
The Six Billion Dollar Earplugs
We are equipped with five senses: Sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch. The thought of losing any of them is frightening. Setting aside the question of aging, even the thought of only diminishing any of our senses is unsettling. So, the question is, if a faulty product caused you to suffer an impairment of one of your senses, what kind of compensation would be appropriate?

LIVEDEAD
BEAR WAS NOT HAPPY. As the 1970s began to unfurl, live engineer Owsley \"Bear\" Stanley was increasingly frustrated with the quality of the live sound he was in charge of mixing night after night for San Francisco's multi-genre jam stalwarts the Grateful Dead.
The Music
THE SONOS Era 300 is the latest in a new generation of Atmos-compliant 'spatial audio' speakers that bring a more immersive listening experience without the hardware and installation grief inherent with discrete surround systems.

I RECENTLY upgraded from traditional box speakers to in-wall speakers after delving into the world of in-walls with my recent review of the SVS 3000 In-Wall Subwoofer, which I installed in my den.
Summer Entertaining
When you think of \"entertaining\" with your AV system, chances are the first thing that comes to mind is your home theater or media room. And while having friends over for dinner and a movie is a great use of your system, it's really just the tip of the iceberg.

Music Metadata Smackdown
Classical music has a problem. A tiny company, and the world’s largest technology company, both think they have the answer.
Studio Quality
HOW DO you know when an audio trend is more than just a bandwagon? When America's oldest hi-fi brand climbs on board. (Yes, I know that JBL and Klipsch were both founded in 1946. But JBL's earliest incarnation goes back to the 1930's.)

Sofabaton X1 Remote - Out of Control
When Logitech stopped making Harmony remotes in 2021, few options remained. The Sofabaton X1, with its vast database of codes for TVs and other devices, sounded promising. If you want a single remote and are willing to invest time to set it up, you may get what you need but it's not a substitute for what it's intended to replace.
Ultra Short Throw Projectors
Ultra Short Throw (UST) projectors have steadily increased in performance while also massively decreasing in price. My first UST experience was a Sony model at CES several years ago selling for $20,000. Today you can get a UST projector with 4K HDR resolution and a laser-light engine rated for a 20,000-hour lifespan that is capable of producing 2500+ lumens for under $2500!
