WIRELESS GAMING HEADSETS
PC Gamer
|September 2023
There's never been a better time to cut the cord and free your ears from your desktop.
If you had to buy a wireless version of any one peripheral for your PC, which would it be? Personally, it's a close call between my mouse and my headset, but I think I'd probably say headset for its overall benefits and ease. With a set of wireless cans you're free to wander from your desk and make a cup of coffee without turning off your tunes or leaving the Discord chat, and as you'll see with a few of the headsets I've tested this issue, there's even more flexibility in all-in-one wireless headsets for gaming at home and taking on the go, too.
Nova Pro Wireless
STEELSERIES £330
All-in-one
1 The Steel Series Nova Pro is from a relatively new type of wireless headset that aims to be both a gaming headset while you’re at a desk as well as something to wear while you’re out and about. On that front, the Nova Pro absolutely delivers, but for offering two headsets’ worth of functionality it’ll also cost you as much. The Nova Pro is extremely sleek with its connectivity, offering the ability to connect to both Bluetooth and 2.4GHz devices simultaneously. It’s not a feature only Steel Series offers, but it’s absolutely key to the ease of using this thing around the house and out of it. The other real winners are the hot-swappable batteries that Steel Series does so well on its other gaming headsets. That makes the 18-44 hour battery life of a single battery a lot less of a sticking point. With music and gaming both on the agenda for the Nova Pro, getting the sound profile right is key. It has a great response when wired, though less so while wireless, and you can tweak it to your liking.
