Callington pull away at top of table after beating Redruth by 10 runs

CALLINGTON lead the Bond Timber Premier Division - being the only team to win all three opening games.
Like the previous week at St Just, they were taken to the wire at Redruth before winning by just ten runs.
The visitors posted 245-3 in their fifty overs, thanks to a solid top-order batting display. Aian Libby fell for 15 at 69-1. Liam Lindsay made 65 and Xavie Clarke 15. Max Tryfonos (70no) and Graham Wagg (59no) then added an unbroken 103 for the fourth wicket.
The Redruth top order was in good form again, reaching 150 before losing their fourth wicket in the 35th over. With 51 needed off four overs, the task proved too much after Dulash Udayanga was stumped for 51. Justin Beaton ended on 48 not out. Penzance are second after back-to-back wins, but they had to dig deep at Helston before winning by 15 runs.
Penzance got off to a flyer but were pegged back with the introduction of spin. Lewis Goldsworthy had Christian Purchase caught for 26 at 63 in the ninth over. Goldsworthy, Steve Jenkin, Aussie leg-spinner Harry Saunders and Liam Frew all took two wickets in the 173 all out. Opener Jack Paull was third out for 48 at 95. The last two wickets added what was to prove a crucial 36 runs, with Jonny Ludlam making 27.
The Helston top order was undone by Tommy Sturgess, returning to his home club. The seamer accounted for Billy Taylor, Dan Jenkin, Goldsworthy and Steve Jenkin at 25-5. He followed up with Sunny Osmont to end with figures of 10-2-21-5.
