The fantastical scenes and inclusion of young dancers in the work by Hong Kong Ballet are a delight
DANCE ALICE (IN WONDERLAND) Hong Kong Ballet Esplanade Theatre Feb 21 This whimsical production marks Hong Kong Ballet's return to the Esplanade stage after more than 20 years, when it performed The Last Emperor in 2004.
It is rare to see a full-length ballet by an Asian company in Singapore, so this performance is much anticipated.
Alice (in wonderland), although marketed as family-friendly, is an intense work, with a packed showtime of an hour and 45 minutes, numerous fantastical scenes and a mind-boggling number of costumes.
Choreographed by the company's artistic director Septime Webre, it is a challenging performance not only for the production team, but also members of the cast, many of whom dance multiple roles.
