|July 15, 2025
Jharkhand People's Party (JPP) president Surya Singh Besra on Monday demanded that the tenure of the Jharkhand State Movement Recognition Commission be extended till 2029 to ensure due recognition and benefits for all statehood movement activists.
He pointed out that though the commission was constituted in 2012, it ceased functioning after 13 July. "Out of nearly 70,000 applications submitted so far, only 20,000 have been verified, and around 5,000 recognised activists are receiving monthly pensions of 4,500 or 7,000," he said.
