ONGOING police investigations into the May 23 honeymoon murder in Meghalaya have revealed that prime suspect Sonam Raghuvanshi, after returning to home city Indore on May 25, went into hiding for around a fortnight before proceeding to Varanasi in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
This latest revelation is contrary to earlier inputs about Sonam hiding in a rented flat in Indore for two days (May 26 and May 27) before proceeding by a taxi to Varanasi hired by co-accused and alleged boyfriend Raj Kushwah, also an employee in her father's business. "We have confirmed information that after her husband Raja's murder in Meghalaya on May 23, Sonam returned to Indore on May 25 and stayed put at a flat in Dewas Naka area for around a fortnight before leaving for Varanasi with Raj's help. Raj even arranged food and other necessary things for her through the online delivery route at the flat," an Indore police officer, who was part of the joint operation carried out by MP and Meghalaya police on June 8-9, told this newspaper.
