THE overnight rains that lashed Konaseema district and the huge security blanket thrown in the town might had cooled the surcharged atmosphere in Amalapuram but an uneasy silence prevailed in the violence-hit town as Tuesday's incidents remained still afresh in the minds of people. More than 1,500 police personnel and at least five Superintendent of Police rank officers drawn from neighbouring districts monitored the situation as the town limped back to normalcy, slowly by the morning.
"We have never seen this type of violent incidents before. We (people of Konaseema) are known for our politeness and respecting others. We suspect some outsiders might have entered the scene and fomented trouble," S Venkata Ramu, a resident of Amalapuram town told TNIE.
