Trust looks for company to complete new hospital

AN interim contractor has been appointed to build a new hospital after the previous one went bust.
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust was working with Merit to construct Berwick Community Hospital in Berwick, Northumberland.
The trust now has to appoint a different company after Merit was placed into administration last week.
They have selected Opus Building Services Limited as an interim contractor and are in the process of finding a full-time replacement.
Damon Kent, managing director, Northumbria Healthcare Facilities Management, said: “We are pleased to be able to provide people with an update on the next steps to ensure the construction of our new hospital continues to progress well.
“We would like to reassure people that we know how much this facility means to our staff, patients and local communities.
