Speaker orders investigation into use of unparliamentary language by several MPs

Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne yesterday directed the Office of the Secretary General of Parliament to conduct an investigation into the use of unparliamentary language by several MPs during Monday’s sittings.

The Speaker made the announcement in response to a question raised by MP Ramanathan Archchuna, who insisted that members who had used offensive or inappropriate language should tender an apology to the House.
