Thomas O'Halloran was killed in Greenford, west London, at 4 pm on Tuesday. He is believed to have travelled around 75 yards in the scooter looking for help after he was stabbed.

Officers responded and gave emergency aid until ambulances arrived but the local pensioner was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives from the Met's Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation and have released images of a man they wish to identify as a matter of urgency. The man was wearing grey shorts, a dark T-shirt, a white baseball cap, and white builders gloves.

DCI Jim Eastwood, who is leading the investigation, said: "We are keen to identify the man in the CCTV images as a matter of urgency. He is clearly a dangerous individual and people are advised not to approach him, but to call us immediately on 999 if they know him or have any information regarding his whereabouts.

Are airlines getting tighter with their luggage rules?

Q I fly frequently, using different UK airports and airlines. In the past few weeks I have lost count of the number of occasions when angry/upset passengers are told at the departure gate they must pay £40 or £50 for an oversized cabin bag.
