Mr Shotton suffered serious head wounds, including a bleed on the brain. He underwent surgery for his injuries but never regained consciousness and died on June 6, 2023.
Both men stood accused of his murder in a trial which lasted three weeks at Plymouth Crown Court. After deliberating for nine hours and 27 minutes, the jury found Fuoco-Fisher guilty of murder. Caswell was cleared of murder but was found guilty of manslaughter.
Fuoco-Fisher and Caswell were sentenced together at Plymouth Crown Court yesterday by Judge Robert Linford.
Fuoco-Fisher was given life imprisonment. with a minimum term of 16 years, minus 326 days on remand for murder, and Caswell was sentenced for eight years, with two-thirds behind bars for manslaughter, minus time spent on remand.
