A YOUNG woman from Milbrook, Cornwall, is taking on a challenging skydive to raise money for a charity close to her heart.
Nicola Smith has chosen to raise funds for the stillbirth and neonatal death charity Sands, after the tragic loss of her nephew, Elliott.
Elliott would have been 10 in May this year. He was diagnosed with medical condition PUVS (Posterior Urethral Valve syndrome) at 20 weeks, after his mother had to have numerous tests throughout her pregnancy.
The results showed the function of one of Elliott's kidneys was just 5%, while the other kidney had no function. Now, Nicola is taking part in the Sands Leap of Love event, which will see her 'take to the skies to save babies' lives.
