FORMER NURSE BEHIND SALON'S NEW SERVICES

Cancer patients offered therapies

A PLYMOUTH salon run by a former NHS nurse is now offering a service for cancer patients.

Owner of Brow Envy, Mel Hopwood, is offering a new range of holistic “cancer touch therapies” for clients undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Mel, who worked as a maxillofacial nurse at Derriford Hospital, specialised in head and neck cancer for a decade. The 52-year-old, who now owns the salon on Hobart Street, said most salons and spas turn away clients affected by cancer because of their insurance.

This inspired Mel to ensure she could offer specialist treaments – and as she has experience in working with cancer patients in her NHS role, she feels she has the right “expertise and empathy”.
