Bike simulator to tour the SW to highlight dangers

A STATE-of-the-art simulator will tour Devon and Cornwall in an attempt to reduce the number of motorcycle-related deaths and serious injuries on the region’s roads.

Devon and Cornwall Police – who have acquired the very first simulator of its kind in the country – have highlighted the need for the device by citing the dangers bikers face.

Describing riders as “one of the most vulnerable road user groups”, they explained that despite making up just 1% of total traffic, motorcyclists account for almost 21% of road deaths in Devon and Cornwall.

In 2022, 16 motorcyclists were killed on Devon and Cornwall’s roads, and a further 187 were left seriously injured, prompting the creation of a dedicated task force, supported by the Vision Zero South West road safety partnership, to help drive these numbers down.
