PLYMOUTH city centre's eyesore Mayflower House and the neighbouring Congress Hall are set to be transformed into a hotel and flats in a £20 million scheme block, in The new owner of the two buildings has told The Herald it is working on planning applications now and aims to have shovels in the ground by the end of the year.
The former office Armada Way, has been at the centre of controversy for years after falling into disrepair. In 2020 a dead body was even found inside the five-storey block.
It was put on the market in 2021 after development company Mayflower House Developments Ltd went bust. London-based 19 Cross Road Ltd bought the 35,000 sq ft pile from the receiver for an undisclosed amount, but less than £3 million.
The same company has also now bought the former Salvation Army Congress Hall, next door, also for an undisclosed sum. It is planning two separate planning applications which it expects to submit soon.
