Indian universities unable to compete with global counterparts: Report

The Centre for World University Rankings (CUWR) released the 2024 edition of the Global 2000 list on Monday, May 13. Sixty-five institutes from India made it to the list with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad topping the list with the 410th rank.

Like last year, none of the Indian institutes made it to the top 400 list. While IIM Ahmedabad did see a jump of nine places, compared to last year, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) came second in India standing at 501, followed by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay at 568.

However, IISc and IIT Bombay have slipped from their previous positions of 494 and 554, respectively. Not only these two but according to the CUWR report, 33 Indian Universities have fallen from their previous positions.
