New Prosus CEO sets bold course
The Citizen
|September 23, 2025
At its recent capital markets day in June, Prosus for the first time didn’t pretend to be an internet business with an ever-expanding global footprint and businesses on practically every continent.
Instead, under new CEO Fabricio Bloisi, Prosus articulated its business as one with “a global footprint with regional focus”.
On the map were just three main regions where its ecosystem play - spanning food, fintech, commerce and experiences - is focused; Europe, Latin America and India. Its ecosystem in Latin America (Bloisi ran the Brazilian food delivery business iFood prior to becoming CEO) is the most advanced of the three regions (Europe has no operations in the experiences category).
These three regions are what Bloisi believes will take Prosus from a global internet business valued at $122 billion (about R2.1 trillion) to a $200 billion one.
Bloisi is personally incentivised with a special “moonshot” incentive to double the group’s market capitalisation (Prosus and Naspers) from $84 billion to $168 billion, between when he took over as CEO in 1 July 2024 and 30 June 2028.

Could Maharaj's Test spot be in danger?
It feels silly to even suggest this, but based on the performances of the country's strong spin bowling contingent, Keshav Maharaj's place in the national Test team might be in danger.
